1670 French Colonies 5 sols NGC VG Details In France, a decree was issued in 1670 for coins in 3 denominations to be struck in Paris to circulate in the French West Indies and New France. 202,453 of the 5 sols were minted. Scarce with around 150 examples known.

1721-H French Colonies 9 deniers PCGS VF Details
In France, a Royal Edict was issued in 1721 for coins in 3 denominations to be struck to circulate in the French Americas. Only the 9 deniers ended up being struck – in 1721 and 1722. In June 1722, 533,333 of these were shipped to Quebec aboard the ship Le Chameau; however, colonists resisted adopting these coins. |

1815 (Canada) Genuine British Copper 1/2 penny NS-26A2 Engrailed Edge NGC F Details Issued anonymously in Nova Scotia. The issuance of tokens by merchants, etc. was common in the 1800s in Canada due to the lack of official coinage. Very rare with the engrailed edge orientation. |

1839 Lower Canada Bank of Montreal/Banque du Peuple 1 penny LC-11C
In 1838-39, the Bank of Montreal ordered half pennies and pennies but they were all rejected by the manager of the bank due to perceived quality issues. All variations are scarce but LC-11C (1839 1 penny with Banque du Peuple on ribbon) is exceedingly so. Very rare with 18 examples currently known, 4 of which are in museum collections – 3 in the Bank of Canada Museum and 1 in the American Numismatic Society Museum. |
